In 2007, EHL’s management decided to take a new step and founded the Scholarship Fund. It was created to support students in need for financial help during their studies.
In 2008, the first young talents benefited from this new program and had the opportunity to enroll into our Bachelor or Master programs, regardless of their financial situation.
The main focus of the fund is to invest in people. More precisely invest in the future of a sector that carries a real dynamism and plays an important role in the dialogue of cultures.
The scholarship holders are carefully selected by a committee, after having submitted a full application including a motivation letter and a clear explanation of their financial situation. The committee is composed of members of EHL's finance department and the Scholarship Fund management, including the Scholarship Fund's President, Mr. Walter Daubenmeier (EHL 1958).
The Scholarship Fund members maintain a close relationship with the scholarship holders and the evolution of their grades is supervised throughout their curriculum.
By 2017, 73 scholarship students will have graduated from EHL, many with honors and distinctions.
Since April 2016, the Scholarship Fund is integrated into the “Foundation 1893”, the only EHL Group entity to benefit from a tax exemption. Foundation 1893 is managed by an EHL alumnus and the board consists of several EHL alumni, which ensures its independence and financial sustainability in the long term.
