In the 50s, the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne continues to grow. After nearly 60 years of existence, the overall number of students grew from 27 to 500.
The courses have diversified and origins of the students too. In 1951, nearly 30 nationalities are represented within the student body. The quality of education became then a major subject and therefore, courses were taught by highly qualified and respected academic instructors and professionals. This allowed the school to publish its own books and documents, making it a real industry reference.
In parallel, a preparatory year was introduced, which allowed students to improve their academic knowledge. By contrast, today's Bachelor program preparatory year is focused on practice. It introduces students to the different professions in a hotel, including cooking, service, stewarding and housekeeping.
Today, EHL is the home to a little less than 2600 students, coming from 107 different countries.
